What are My Options to Change My Address with USPS?
The USPS offers their own change of address service you can do directly on their website. The official United States Postal Service website will charge you a small fee of $1.05 to verify your identity and change your address online and you will get an email confirming the address change once it is completed.
The other option is that you can also submit a US Postal Change of Address form by going to your local Post Office and requesting a Mover’s Guide packet. The packet comes with PS Form 3575 which is the official form used by the Post Office to submit your Change of Address request. Once you have completed the form, simply drop it back off at your local Post Office
The third option is to use an independent third party provider who can submit the address change request for you on your behalf to the United Postal Service. Yes, we are only able to notify the USPS with your change of address and you should notify all your other parties such as credit card companies, utilities, IRS, etc.? USPS© mail forwarding only covers certain classes of mail for a period of up to 12 months. Mail forwarded from your old address will be affixed with a yellow or white label with your new address. You will want to contact and update your address with anyone whose correspondence you receive with a yellow or white label. Many government agencies and mailers will not update your address without direct contact from you, so it is important that you notify parties directly. Can I Have my Entire Family or Business of Mail Forwarded?
Yes, there is an option to select whether you want an Individual, Family or Even Business move when you file the change of address. With a Family move if there is more than one person moving and everyone that is moving has the same last name, you will want to choose the Family address change option. If there are some members of your family that are not moving, then you should submit an Individual address change request for each person that is moving. Important: If some of the members of your family have different last names, you must submit multiple Individual address changes for each person that is moving so that all the mail can be forwarded properly.
You will only want to use the Family option if everyone in your household is moving and everyone has the same last name.
You can also have your business mail forwarded only if the entire business is moving. You will want to select the Business option and make sure that you enter in the exact name of the Business that is moving.
